I’ve always loved the stopover at Dhaba in the middle of long drives, especially during the drives from Delhi to Chandigarh. Some great stopovers just off the highway.
Paranthas with melted makkhan (butter) and some deadly chilly acchar (pickle).
Recently on another trip to Toronto where I frequent the Italian and French, I had a nostalgic night out at St West where I found this amazing Indian place “The Dhaba Indian Excellence”.
I kid you not, the chicken was melting in the mouth with each bite more succulent than the next. I haven’t had such great Indian food in a long time. I asked to meet the chef who invited me & my friend to the kitchen.
There we discovered several old Delhi ties and common threads that string together some great memories. It turns out we had met once during college at a house party where he was administering the barbeque – I guess the signs were clear early on.
He promised me to take me around a this great array of new places especially this quaint German Bakery with the tremendous range of bread ham and cheese.
More on this soon!
Paranthas are something that even i love.. And yes, they go well with makkhan, dahi aur achchar:) Just a mouth watering combination:)
